The Art Of Beautiful Skin In Your 30's

09.02.2022

The Clinic believes beautiful skin is a fine art. With this in mind, The Clinic has created the series of 'The Art of Beautiful Skin'. This month, The Clinic will be focusing on skincare treatments in your thirties.

Physiologically, around 30 years old is when the ageing process starts and clients start to notice a range of changes in their skin. Skin cell production slows, fine lines start to appear, pigmentation seems to erupt overnight and hormonal changes wreak havoc. Lets face it, by the 30s your skin has already been exposed to the elements for three decades, it's bound to show some wear and tear! Rest assured, the changes are natural, there is a lot you can do about them.

At The Clinic, the main skin concerns our clients in their thirties have include lines and wrinkles, the appearance of sun damage and redness or sensitive skin. Read on to learn more about how you can combat these.

Signs of Ageing in Your 30s: Fine Lines

In the 30s, proteins such as collagen and elastin are produced less and breakdown faster. On the outside this is seen as a loss of firmness in the skin, with the beginning of wrinkles on the forehead or around the eyes.

What You Can Do About It

Fine lines can be treated instantly and directly with Anti-Wrinkle Injections, which soften the appearance of wrinkles and are customisable depending on your individual concerns and needs. The most common areas for Anti-Wrinkle Injections in the thirties are the Glabella (frown lines), Frontalis (forehead lines) and Crows Feet (around the eyes).

Another form of treatment that targets the signs of ageing is Ultraformer Skin Tightening. Ultraformer (also known as Ultherapy or HIFU High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) promotes collagen production and renewal in the deep layers of the skin to resolve the appearance of wrinkles, loss of elastin and helps make the face appear more plump. This treatment can also be done on the neck and submentum region to help define the jaw line.

What Is Ultraformer?

The Ultraformer is the next evolution in aesthetic science. It is a revolutionary skin tightening technology with no patient downtime, using the power of ultrasound (also known as Ultherapy or HIFU High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) to lift not just the skin but also the deep muscle layer underneath.

Signs of Ageing in Your 30s: Sun Damage

After three decades of sun exposure, sun damage will start to appear. This is due to an overproduction of pigment cells being stimulated. Combined with a reduced rate of skin cell production, the epidermal layer builds up, pigmentation lives on the surface for longer and becomes more difficult to shift in the 30s. Hormonal pigmentation (known as melasma) may also become apparent in the 30s as hormonal changes start to occur due to work stress, use of the contraceptive pill, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What You Can Do About It

Treating the epidermal layer with rejuvenation treatments is the first line of defence against sun damage and pigmentation. For skin in your thirties The Clinic recommends Fraxel Laser Rejuvenation. This treatment will help retexturise the skin, remove pigmentation and improve the signs of ageing.

What Is Fraxel?

Fraxel is a non-invasive, rejuvenating laser therapy that penetrates the epidermis, targeting the deep layers of the skin for collagen remodeling, with 25% less downtime. Fraxel is our most effective treatment for pigmentation, discolouration, freckles, sun spots, age spots, acne scarring and overall rejuvenation.

Signs of Ageing in Your 30s: Redness and Sensitivity

Redness or sensitive skin can be caused by intrinsic or extrinsic factors including diet, sun damage and hormones, which are all prevalent in the 30s age group.

What You Can Do About It

Since the causes of redness or sensitivity can be complicated, there is no single simple fix, so the first thing to do is get a clear diagnosis from a dermatologist. Next, a skin care regime prescribed by one of the RN's at The Clinic will be sure to eliminate irritable products. Our most effective skin treatment for redness or sensitivity is IPL Light Therapy to strengthen and correct the skin.
