The treatment experience

The Alma Opus offers two treatment solutions.

The more ablative 'Opus Plasma' treatment delivers energy in the form of plasma sparks, that create micro-injuries to the skin, initiating the body’s natural healing process and thus stimulating enhanced production of collagen and elastin. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to minimise discomfort, and most patients experience only mild sensations of warmth or tingling during the procedure. The Radiofrequency treatment 'UniFace' delivers thermal energy to the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing the skin’s firmness and elasticity.

Best For:

  • Comprehensive Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation
  • Offers long-term benefits for overall improved skin quality
  • Achieving tighter, firmer skin and boosting long-term collagen production
  • Treating acne scars
  • Smoothening uneven texture and pore refinement
  • Adressing Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Evening out skin tone and pigment

The Two Treatment Options

Opus Plasma Treatment

Unique fractional RF technology both ablates and heats the skin, while RF energy generates plasma sparks that create micro-channels in the skin, together with dermal coagulation.

UniFace Treatment

Combining Unipolar RF technology with a detachable rotating massage ring, UniFace delivers deep dermal heating while increasing circulation within the dermis, tightening skin and improving laxity, wrinkles and rhytids on facial skin.

Pre and post care

What can I expect after my treatment?
  • After your Opus Plasma treatment, it's common to experience some redness and warmth, similar to a mild sunburn, along with slight swelling and tenderness in the treated area.
  • Over the next few days, minor scabbing or flaking may occur as the skin heals, and it's important to avoid picking at these areas.
  • Initial improvements in skin texture and tone can typically be seen within about a week, with collagen production continuing to enhance results over several weeks. Most people experience minimal downtime, usually completing recovery within 1-2 days.
  • After the Radiofrequency treatment, you’ll likely experience mild redness and warmth that won’t last more than a few hours
  • Our nurses will discuss your aftercare at your initial consultation
What precautions should I take pre and post?

One of the major advantages of Opus Plasma is the minimal downtime. Patients can typically return to their normal activities shortly after treatment.

Pre-Treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before your treatment.
  • Discontinue using retinoids, exfoliants, and acid-based products a few days prior.
  • Keep your skin well-hydrated, and discuss your medical history, medications, and skin sensitivities with your clinician.

Post-Treatment:

  • Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Use mild, non-irritating products to cleanse and moisturize your skin.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise for a few days.
  • Follow any specific aftercare instructions provided by your clinician, including using recommended skincare products.
  • Our nurses will discuss your aftercare at your initial consultation

Common questions

How does the Opus Plasma Skin Resurfacing work?

The Alma Opus treatment utilises radiofrequency energy to create microthermal zones with controlled plasma energy on the skin’s surface. These zones stimulate the skin’s natural healing response, leading to collagen production and remodelling. This process helps improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and superficial scars. Additionally, radiofrequency energy targets deeper skin layers, promoting collagen and elastin production for skin tightening and improved elasticity.

Whats the Difference between the Opus Plasma and the UniFace Treatment?

The Alma Opus offers two treatment solutions that can be utilised separately or in conjunction with one-another.

The Opus Plasma uses Unique fractional RF technology both ablates and heats the skin, while RF energy generates plasma sparks that create micro-channels in the skin, together with dermal coagulation.

The UniFace Treatment Combines Unipolar RF technology with a detachable rotating massage ring, UniFace delivers deep dermal heating while increasing circulation within the dermis, tightening skin and improving laxity, wrinkles and rhytids on facial skin.

What are the benefits?
  • Skin Resurfacing: Promotes smoother and more even skin texture.
  • Reduction of Scars: Minimises the appearance of acne scars and other types of scars.
  • Anti-Aging: Reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Pigmentation Correction: Helps in diminishing dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
  • Skin Tightening: Enhances skin firmness and elasticity.
  • Minimal Downtime:  Patients can typically return to their normal activities shortly after treatment.
  • Visible Improvement: Improvements in skin texture, tone, and tightness can be seen within a few days, with continued improvement as new collagen forms over the following weeks.
  • Dual Action Benefits: The combination of superficial plasma ablation and deep RF heating allows for a comprehensive rejuvenation process.
  • Customisation: The treatment can be tailored to be mainly ablative (resurfacing) to mainly heating (tightening)
  • Versatility: Depth control technology enables the user to treat four different depths of tissue, with the ability to treat a multitude of body areas.
How many treatments will I need?

Notable results are typically evident after one treatment, however 2-3 treatments are usually recommended, depending on individual needs.

Is it painful?

The treatment is generally well-tolerated. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to minimise discomfort, and most patients experience only mild sensations of warmth or tingling during the procedure. Individual sensitivity varies, but overall, the procedure is designed to be as comfortable as possible

What does recovery look like?

This too will depend on your treatment plan recommended by one of our registered nurses

A clinical study has shown that Opus Plasma required 50% less downtime when compared to a fractional skin resurfacing technology using a laser. When using moderate settings, the downtime is minimal. You may experience 24 to 48 hours of mild to moderate redness and swelling — not significant to interfere with your daily activities.
