Jaw clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism) are common concerns we see at The Clinic — whether it's jaw tension, discomfort, or changes in the shape of the lower face. Because causes and severity vary from person to person, treatment options are personalised and tailored after a medical consultation with our registered nurses.

In line with the latest TGA guidelines, we are unable to display specific cosmetic treatments. However, our full range of treatments remains available. Common questions

What are the benefits?

Suitability and expected outcomes depend on your individual symptoms and anatomy, which is why we begin with a consultation. Our registered nurses will assess your concerns — whether functional, like grinding and tension, or aesthetic — and explain what you can realistically expect. Individual results vary.

How jaw clenching and teeth grinding develop

Bruxism — clenching or grinding the teeth — often happens unconsciously, during sleep or in periods of concentration and stress. Over time, repeated clenching works the masseter muscles at the side of the jaw harder than usual, which can lead to jaw tension, morning headaches, tooth wear, and gradual enlargement of the muscle itself, sometimes changing the shape of the lower face.

Stress, sleep patterns, bite alignment and habit all play a role, and the right approach differs from person to person — which is why we start with a consultation. Our registered nurses assess your symptoms and concerns, and build a personalised plan suited to you. For some people, this may also involve guidance to see a dentist or GP alongside any treatment.

What are the risks?

All cosmetic treatments carry potential risks, which can vary based on individual factors such as skin type, medical history, and treatment areas. During your consultation, our experienced nurses will conduct a thorough assessment to determine the most suitable approach for you. They will explain the possible risks, expected downtime, and aftercare requirements, ensuring you have all the information needed to make an informed decision. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we are committed to delivering natural-looking, balanced results with the highest standard of care.
