Lower Face
Exfoliation
30 mins
Dermablading is our term for Dermaplaning, a manual form of exfoliation using a small blade to scrape away dead skin cells from the epidermis to reveal the brighter skin beneath. Dermablading is also useful to remove unwanted vellus hair on the face such as 'peach fuzz' around the neck and chin and with our express option now easier to fit into your schedule!
We start with a thorough cleanse of the face. The treatment is then performed by one of our trained doctors or nurses, using a sterile scalpel to stroke along the skin, in a way similar to shaving. Express Dermablading focuses on the lower part of the face and the whole treatment takes 30 minutes.
Most people return to normal activities straight away.
There are no special requirements for Dermaplaning. You can apply makeup, exercise and bathe as usual after your treatment.
We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or above should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every two hours.
As Dermaplaning doesn't use active ingredients, it can suit sensitive skin and may be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your clinician will confirm at consultation.
Dermaplaning is performed by our trained clinicians. Risks include small nicks, redness and irritation, and it isn't recommended for active acne.
Despite what many think, hair re-growth that is darker or thicker is not a risk of Dermaplaning. This is because the hair on the face that Dermaplaning targets is vellus hair, not terminal hair.
Results are immediate and evident after a single treatment. Your skin will be noticeably smoother and soft to the touch. For exfoliation purposes - best results come from 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. For hair removal - repeat treatments will be required depending on the re-growth cycle of your hair.
Most clients describe a light scraping sensation, similar to shaving. Comfort levels vary.
Results vary between individuals and are not guaranteed. Your nurse will discuss suitability, risks, recovery and expected results with you at consultation.
